Surfing and Skim Boarding

When the northeast winds meet with the Pacific Ocean, the waves roll out for surfers to ride and wipe out on. The waves in Playa de Catalina cater to both beginners and pros; the smaller ones that push into the shore can be used as surfing lesson venues. Larger waves that loom towards the rocks or by the designated surfer’s camp are where surfing pros can challenge themselves. For those who aren’t quite ready to surf, but want to experience the waves, skim boarding is a fun and adventurous alternative.

Kayaking and Boating

If you prefer to enjoy the ocean from a safe distance, you can charter a boat to take you beyond the shore or take a kayak out for some exercise. The boat can also take you to the nearby island for snorkeling or diving; more of the ocean’s marine life can be discovered in that area.

You can also experience the calmer side of the Ulot River by chartering a boat. The river boat tour can take you around the Playa de Catalina area, which also includes the scenic mangroves and the small communities along the stream. If you feel like visiting the town, the boat can take you Can-Avid in less than 15 minutes.
